Ingredients
  

  • For the Cookies
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the Maple Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 –2 tbsp milk
  • Topping
  • Cinnamon sugar 1 tbsp sugar + ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  6. Chill the dough for 20 minutes to enhance flavor and texture.
  7. Scoop dough into balls, roll lightly in cinnamon sugar, and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers remain soft.
  9. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
  10. Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cookies. Dust lightly with powdered sugar.

Notes

Chilling the dough prevents spreading and keeps the centers chewy.
For extra flavor, brown the butter before mixing.
