Servings: 6 Waffles

Ingredients

  • For the Waffles
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ¾ cups milk or buttermilk
  • cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup mini or regular chocolate chips
  • Optional Toppings
  • Maple syrup
  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh berries
  • Fudge sauce or chocolate syrup
  • Powdered sugar
  • Butter
  • Nuts or caramel drizzle

Method

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Lightly grease your waffle iron with oil or nonstick spray.
  7. Pour batter into the waffle iron and cook until golden and crispy—usually 3–5 minutes per waffle.
  8. Place cooked waffles on a cooling rack (not stacked) to maintain crispiness.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite toppings—fudge sauce, berries, whipped cream, or maple syrup.

Notes

For Extra Crispiness: Let the waffles cook 1–2 minutes longer after the light turns green.
Don’t Stack Them: Stacking creates steam, which softens the waffles. Use a cooling rack instead.
Buttermilk Option: Buttermilk creates a richer flavor and fluffier inside.
Chocolate Chips: Mini chips melt more evenly, while large chips create bigger chocolate pockets.
Make Ahead: Waffles freeze perfectly—freeze individually and reheat in a toaster.
Variations: Add cocoa powder for chocolate waffles, or mix in nuts, banana slices, or cinnamon.
Topping Ideas: Fudge sauce, caramel, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, or toasted coconut for a dessert-style waffle.
