Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 large onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese

Method
 

  1. Melt butter in a skillet and cook onions over medium heat for 15 minutes until caramelized.
  2. Add garlic and thyme; cook briefly.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in flour, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Simmer until thick. Season to taste.
  5. Toast buns, spoon beef mixture on top, add cheese, and broil until melted.
  6. Serve warm.
