Notes
Rice: White, brown, jasmine, or basmati rice can be used. Leftover rice works especially well for quick preparation.
Ground beef: Lean ground beef helps reduce excess grease while keeping the bowls flavorful.
Vegetables: Add corn, peas, broccoli, mushrooms, spinach, or extra bell peppers.
Cheese: Cheddar can be replaced with Monterey Jack, mozzarella, or a Mexican cheese blend.
Casserole variation: Combine the cooked beef and rice in a greased baking dish, top with extra cheese, and bake at 375°F until hot and bubbly for an easy hamburger rice casserole.
Spicy version: Add chili powder, cumin, red pepper flakes, or hot sauce.
Meal prep: Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
Reheating: Reheat gently in the microwave or skillet. Add a splash of beef broth if the rice becomes dry.
Freezing: The beef and rice mixture can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight before reheating.
