Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef lean preferred
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar optional
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes adjust to taste
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • For Serving:
  • 3 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • Steamed broccoli carrots, or edamame (optional)
  • Fried egg or kimchi for garnish optional

Method
 

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and crumbly, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  2. Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Combine and Simmer: Pour the sauce over the beef and stir to coat evenly. Let simmer for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Finish and Serve: Stir in green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over rice and garnish with a fried egg, kimchi, or steamed veggies if desired.
