Ingredients
  

  • For the Chocolate Cake Layers:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • For the Nutella Frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups Nutella
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 –5 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For Filling & Decoration:
  • 3/4 cup Nutella for middle layer
  • Chocolate shavings or chopped hazelnuts optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla. Mix well. Slowly add hot coffee and stir until smooth.
  4. Divide batter into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes. Cool completely.
  5. Beat butter until fluffy. Add Nutella. Gradually mix in powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream until smooth.
  6. Place one cake layer on a plate. Spread Nutella on top, then a layer of frosting.
  7. Add second cake layer. Frost entire cake with Nutella buttercream.
  8. Decorate with chocolate shavings or hazelnuts.

Notes

Coffee enhances the chocolate flavor without tasting like coffee.
Chill cake before decorating for cleaner frosting.
Add cream slowly if frosting is too thick.
Store in the fridge up to 4 days.
